Program Objectives

  • Explore the principles of forestry, including forest ecology, tree identification, and silviculture.

  • Gain hands-on experience in timber harvesting techniques, including chainsaw operation, tree felling, and skidding.

    Learn about different harvesting methods, such as clear-cutting, selective cutting, and sustainable harvesting.

  • Develop skills in forest inventory,Cruising lots, and understanding land boundaries. Students have the opportunity to learn the basics of land mapping using compass or GIS (Geographic information System) Technology.

    Learn to assess forest health and plan harvesting activities with consideration for biodiversity and wildlife habitat.
