CNA Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program is a comprehensive and hands-on course designed to introduce students to the rewarding field of healthcare. Program Objectives

  • Explore the various roles within the healthcare industry, with a focus on the responsibilities and duties of Certified Nursing Assistants.

    Gain an understanding of the importance of healthcare teams and the CNA's role in patient care.

  • Learn and practice fundamental nursing skills, including patient hygiene, mobility assistance, vital signs measurement, and infection control.

    Develop proficiency in providing compassionate and respectful care to diverse patient populations

  • Gain hands-on experience in performing clinical procedures, such as dressing changes, bed-making, and assisting patients with activities of daily living.

    Understand the principles of patient positioning and lifting techniques to ensure both patient and caregiver safety.

  • Acquire a basic understanding of medical terminology commonly used in healthcare settings.

    Learn to accurately document patient care activities and maintain patient records in compliance with healthcare standards.

  • Explore ethical considerations in patient care and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.

    Develop professional communication skills and learn about the CNA's role as an integral part of the healthcare team.

  • Engage in supervised clinical rotations in healthcare facilities to apply learned skills in real-world settings.

This course has specific admissions criteria including: 

  • Minimum age of 16 prior to clinical

  • Physical exam within the past year confirming good physical and mental health

  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test

  • Hepatitis B vaccine series (or proof of receiving the series)

  • Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis (TDAP) vaccine (or proof of receiving the vaccine)

  • Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) vaccine series (or proof of receiving the vaccine series)

  • Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine series (or proof of receiving the vaccine series)

  • Season Flu and COVID vaccines

  • Absence of drug and alcohol abuse

  • Good personal hygiene

  • Dependable and reliable work habits
