Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID

The FSA ID is a username and password combination you use to log in to U.S. Department of Education (ED) online systems. The FSA ID is your legal signature and shouldn't be created or used by anyone other than you. You will need to have this completed prior to starting the FAFSA. It may take 5-7 days before the FSA ID is created and ready to use.

Prep Worksheet for your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID

When you create your account, you will set up your FSA ID. Your FSA ID is a user name and password that gives you access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and serves as your legal signature. Each student and one parent need to create their own unique FSA ID. This worksheet will assist you in having the correct information available before creating your FSA ID.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid

To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. Completing and submitting the FAFSA form is free, and it gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to help pay for college or career school.
